Homemade Red Barbeque Sauce
The following recipe is simply a guide. What’s important is the ratio of the ingredients which are:
3 parts tomato product
1 part sugar product (brown sugar, molasses, etc.)
1 part vinegar
Please experiment to find your personal, signature sauce.
Ingredients:
3 cups Tomato ketchup
1 cup Brown sugar
1 cup Vinegar
2 tablespoons Black strap molasses
½ cup White onions (chopped)
1 tablespoon Garlic (chopped)
2 teaspoons Pecan wood liquid smoke
Louisiana Love Seasoning Blend to taste
Method:
Combine all ingredients in a heavy sauce pan and simmer for 30-45 minutes.
Taste and adjust seasoning.
Homemade White Barbeque Sauce
This sauce is a bit unusual to most of the country and in South Louisiana to be sure. However it is a great compliment to the rich, smoky flavors of barbeque. It is used mostly as a dipping sauce to be served on the table. Basting should be limited to the last 30 minutes of cooking.
Ingredients:
3 cups Mayonnaise
1 cup Vinegar
1 cup White corn syrup
2 tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
Louisiana Love Seasoning Blend to taste
Method:
Combine all ingredients in a suitable bowl and refrigerate for an hour before serving.
Taste and adjust seasoning.
